I am an enthusiastic birder and photographer with favorite areas around my home town, Turku (Finland). I am particularly fond of birding in some lighthouse islands in the outer Finnish archipelago, especially in Utö-island where we have rented an old, cosy house. A few visits abroad every year (particularly in the WP-area) give more opportunities and favourite birding countries include for example Egypt, Spain and Norway.

My primary camera equipment comprises Canon 1D Mark IV + Canon 500 mm/f4 + 1.4x teleconverter.

As the second and third camera I have Canon EOS 50D and Canon EOS 40D with Canon lenses EF 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS USM zoom and EF17-40mm F4L USM wide angle, respectively. During fieldtrips I use pocketsized Canon PowerShot S90 for occasional events.

I also do digiscoping (but seldom) with a combination of Sony Cybershot and Swarowski telescope with 45 WA magnification.
My binoculars are Swarowski EL 10 x 42. The Gitzo tripod (No 1325, carbon fiber) supports a New Whimberley Head II for the camera.
