I am an active birdwatcher and bird photographer in Pargas Utöstä, over 60 years of hobby (one of the founding members of the Turku Ornithological Society). My favourite destination is the outer archipelago, especially the lighthouse island of Utö, where the old island farm we own together with my wife Outi Sarjakoski is a base. I moved to Utö in 2010 to live permanently. Every year I try to make a few birding and photography trips abroad (to the WP area). Favourite destinations in recent years have been Spain, Portugal and Norway.
Shooting equipment is primarily Sony A1 II + FE 400-800 mm f6.3-8 G OSS + 1.4x telephoto lens. I also use a Sony A7 Mk V with Sigma 500/f5.6 DG DN lens.
Outi’s camera is a Sony A7 Mk V with a Sony SEL 70-350 f4.5-6.3 G OSS lens. For landscape & travel photos we use also Sony RX100 VI camera.
I watch birds with my Swarovski ATX 30-70 x 115 telescope with 1.7x telephoto lens.
Our binoculars are Swarovski EL 10 x 32, Canon 12 x 32 IS and 15 x 50 IS AW, Kowa 10×32 SV and the Gitzo tripod (carbon fibre, No 3531) has a Manfrotto 503HDV video head for the camera.
